STAND WITH DARFUR 2019

What it means to “Stand with Sudan”:

Stand with Sudan is a month-long campaign organized by Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) to mobilize support for the Sudanese who are protesting throughout Sudan and calling for Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir to peacefully step down, whereby providing the opportunity for lasting peace and stability in Sudan. Our campaign will run between February 12th through March 30th DWAG will organize multiple actionable opportunities for American and Sudanese activists to engage in activities that will empower and amplify the voices of the Sudanese people.

The people of Sudan cry for change and want and need your help in sending a strong message to policymakers in the United States and internationally to work toward a solution that meets the peaceful aspirations of the people of Sudan. June 3rd summary

“Stand with Sudan” means to stand in solidarity with peaceful Sudanese protesters by taking one of the following actions to help amplify their voices by calling on your leaders to support the just demands of the Sudanese people, to end human rights abuses, end the genocide, and return dignity to the Sudanese people.

Why your support is urgently needed now:

The people of Sudan have suffered a great deal for far too long and have paid the highest price however  the international community has repeatedly failed them. The genocide in Darfur has been going on for over 16 years, while crises in the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile have been going for 8 years. Presently, safety and security of civilians is dangerously threatened, and the overall human rights  are rapidly deteriorating, and women and girls are systematically targeted for rape and humiliation. Bashir was ousted and the dream of change came so close to be realize however the TMC is no different than al-Bashior And finally, the government is now attacking killing peaceful protesters who are asking for help to end the suffering.

Today, the people of Sudan are more united than ever before, demanding a one thing: “peaceful change” in Sudan. A transitional civilian-led government  We must not allow the international community to take this opportunity for change away from them.

If we can all unite and speak in one voice, we will convince our leaders to take appropriate action. The time is now for the people of Sudan. With our collective efforts we can make a difference.
