DWAG operates across 11 states in Sudan, including all five Darfur states (identified in red), South Kordofan, West Kordofan, North Kordofan, Blue Nile, White Nile, and Khartoum. Our regional work also extends into Chad, South Sudan, and Uganda, supporting communities affected by conflict and displacement.
Emergency Humanitarian Assistance & Protection
Women Protection and Empowerment
DWAG supports women and girls affected by war and displacement through culturally competent and survivor-centered protection services, psychosocial support, and leadership programs that strengthen resilience and promote inclusion.
Policy & Advocacy for a Peaceful Sudan
DWAG brings the voices of affected communities to policy centers, sounding the alarm and sustaining attention on ongoing crises for genocide and atrocity prevention. DWAG advocates in global policy spaces for accountability, the protection of civilians, and inclusive peacebuilding efforts in Sudan.
Accountability and Justice for Darfur
In 2024 DWAG launched an international advocacy initiative for designing and implementing an international advocacy framework inclusive of the priorities and demands of the broader Sudanese community to inform and influence the approaches and strategies of global and regional actors working on resolving the crisis in Sudan.
Specifically advocating for adoption of an atrocity prevention approach to peace in Sudan that prioritizes accountability and a gender-sensitive human rights-based institutional approach according to international standards to be adopted by all actors and stakeholders engaging in mediating and resolution of the crisis in Sudan.
Protection of Human Rights Defenders
DWAG has actively worked over the years to provide support for women and youth human rights defenders facing risk of attacks and retaliation due to their work. In the wake of the April 15th war, countless WHRDs have faced significant risk of physical, psychological, and emotional harm and were forced to flee their homes.
Most WHRDs living in remote areas like Darfur and South Kordofan were trapped and couldn’t access resources sooner for protection due to insecurity, communication blockade, and direct threat, where HRDs were forced into hiding.
In response, DWAG has set up a network of volunteers working closely to assist HRDs to seek protection, relocation, and other needs under this project.

DWAG works in multiple states across Sudan with a focus on historically marginalized and hard-to-reach communities.

DWAG supports Sudanese refugees and displaced communities through emergency response, protection services, civic engagement, and support for women, youth, and human rights defenders.
United States
Our US office leads international advocacy, policy engagement, fundraising, and partnership-building while supporting programs on the ground and empowering diaspora communities through social justice and capacity-building initiatives.
Global Engagement
DWAG also works with international partners and institutions in Chad, Geneva, and Washington, DC to advance human rights, women’s participation, accountability, and peacebuilding efforts connected to Sudan.
